Kismat (2024) Movie Review: A Missed Opportunity for Comedic Brilliance?

Kismat, the Telugu film promises a comedic tale of destiny and dreams. Directed by Srinath Badineni, the film throws three unemployed engineers, Karthik (Naresh Agastya), Abhi (Abhinav Gomatam), and Kiran (Vishwa Dev), into the chaotic world of mistaken identities and missing funds. But does Kismat deliver on its comedic promise, or is it fated to be a missed opportunity?

Kismat's plot revolves around the trio's accidental involvement with a bag of missing money belonging to a corrupt politician. As they navigate the murky waters of gangsters, politicians, and hidden agendas, the film attempts to weave a humorous narrative. While the premise holds promise, the execution falters, leaving the audience wanting more in terms of wit and engaging storytelling.

The film boasts a talented cast, with Naresh Agastya, Abhinav Gomatam, and Vishwa Dev delivering commendable performances. Abhinav's comedic timing shines, and Ajay Ghosh and Temper Vamsi leave their mark with impactful portrayals. However, the abundance of characters and underdeveloped subplots dilute the impact of individual performances.

Kismat's technical aspects is not that great. Mark K Robin's music and Vedaraman Shankaran cinematography contribute subtly but fail to leave a lasting impression. The editing could have been tighter, and while production values meet expectations, there's room for improvement.

Kismat has its moments, with flashes of humor and commendable performances. However, the sluggish pace, underdeveloped screenplay, and surplus of characters ultimately hold the film back from its comedic potential. If you're looking for a lighthearted watch, Kismat might offer some chuckles, but don't expect a laugh-out-loud riot.
