Shiv Shastri Balboa (2023) Movie Review: Heartwarming tale of love, life, and learning

Shiv Shastri Balboa, a recently released Hindi movie starring Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta, is a heartwarming story about a retired man and a house help who find themselves on a road trip across the United States. Shiv Shastri (Kher) is a 70-year-old man who has lived a simple life in Delhi. He is content with his retirement, but his life takes a turn when he decides to visit his son in the US. However, he is separated from his son at the airport and ends up meeting Elsa (Gupta), a house help who is also lost. The two unlikely friends decide to team up and travel to Shiv's son's house together.

Along the way, Shiv and Elsa face many challenges, but they also learn a lot about each other and about themselves. They encounter racism, sexism, and ageism, but they also experience the kindness of strangers and the beauty of the American landscape. Shiv, who has always been a cautious man, begins to open up and enjoy life more fully, while Elsa, who has always been hard on herself, learns to be more compassionate and forgiving.

The film is beautifully shot, with stunning visuals of the American countryside. The performances by Kher and Gupta are top-notch, and they bring their characters to life with warmth and charm. The supporting cast is also excellent, with notable performances from Jugal Hansraj and Sharib Hashmi.

Overall, Shiv Shastri Balboa is a heartwarming and inspiring film that celebrates the human spirit. It is a reminder that it is never too late to live life to the fullest.

Recommendation: I highly recommend Shiv Shastri Balboa to anyone who is looking for a heartwarming and inspiring film. It is a film that is sure to stay with you long after you watch it.
